    [SOLD] A GEORGE III MAHOGANY 'COCKPEN' OPEN
    The square pierced Chinese lattice filled back flanked by open arms with shepherd's crook terminals, below is an upholstered seat raised on square-section blind fretwork decorated legs united by a pierced 'H' shaped stretcher. The design corresponds closely to chairs made by the Edinburgh cabinet-maker Alexander Peter for William, 5th Earl of Dumfries, in 1758, of which six survive in Dumfries House.
